Surviving the Weekend
How to not feel terrible on Monday morning.
LAN parties are endurance events. Pace yourself.
The 3-2-1 Rule
Every 24 hours, you need:
- 3 hours of sleep (minimum).
- 2 solid meals (not just chips).
- 1 shower (mandatory).
Food & drinks
- There is no full catering. Plan your own meals.
- If there’s interest, we can pool money and order food together at the venue.
- We’ll have cold beer and soft drinks available at cost, plus limited snacks.
Hydration
- Drink water. Energy drinks and soda dehydrate you.
- Keep a refillable water bottle at your desk.
- Headache? You’re probably dehydrated. Drink water.
Sleep
- Don’t pull an all-nighter on night one. You will crash on Saturday afternoon and miss the best tournaments.
- Sleeping areas are quiet zones. Respect that.
- Bring earplugs and a sleep mask.
Where to sleep
- Sleep wherever you can find a suitable spot, but keep in mind the venue won’t be silent.
- If you need real quiet, the city is close enough that you can slip away for a quick power nap.
Movement
- Get up every hour.
- Stretch your wrists, back, and neck.
- Go outside for fresh air at least twice a day. The “LAN cough” is real, and fresh air helps prevent it.
